6. Educational Use and Fair Use
MyUni is an educational platform designed to facilitate learning and knowledge sharing among university students. While we encourage the sharing of original study materials, users should be aware that fair use is a legal doctrine that permits limited use of copyrighted material without obtaining permission.
Fair use is determined on a case-by-case basis and typically considers factors such as:
- The purpose and character of the use (educational vs. commercial)
- The nature of the copyrighted work
- The amount and substantiality of the portion used
- The effect of the use on the potential market for the copyrighted work
Important: Fair use is a complex legal concept. If you are unsure whether your use of copyrighted material constitutes fair use, we recommend consulting with a legal professional or only uploading original content that you have created yourself.
7. Content Moderation and Review
MyUni employs both automated and manual content moderation processes to help prevent copyright infringement and ensure the quality of materials on our platform:
- All uploaded notes undergo admin review before being made publicly available
- We maintain a team of moderators who review flagged content
- Users can report suspected copyright violations through our reporting system
- We proactively remove content that violates our policies
Learn more about our content moderation practices on our Content Moderation & Safety page.
8. Proper Attribution and Citation
We encourage users to properly attribute and cite sources when creating and sharing notes. If your notes include information, quotes, or materials from other sources:
- Clearly cite the original source
- Use quotation marks for direct quotes
- Paraphrase information in your own words where possible
- Include bibliographic information for referenced materials
- Give credit to professors, textbooks, or other sources as appropriate
9. Textbooks and Published Materials
Important Notice: Users are expressly prohibited from uploading:
- Complete or substantial portions of copyrighted textbooks
